Austria (German: Österreich), officially the Republic of Austria (German: Republik Österreich) is a country in Central Europe. The country is bordered in the west to Switzerland and Liechtenstein, in the north to Germany and the Czech Republic, in eastern Slovakia and Hungary and in the south to Italy and Slovenia.

In the hills, the plains and valleys is a continental climate. Above 1,500 meters is a mountain environment. The western part of the country is significantly wetter than the east. Areas on the southern side of the Alps have Mediterranean features. The Föhn wind will affect the temperature and weather pattern.
