Slovenia, officially the Republic of Slovenia (Slovenian: Republika Slovenija) is a country in Central Europe on the southern edge of the Alps. It is bounded by Austria in the north, Italy and the Adriatic Sea in the west, Croatia to the south and east and Hungary in the northeast. The country is small, mountainous and covered by forests. In the west it has a short Adriatic coast. The Austrian border is largely formed by the watershed of the ridge of the Karawanken, with peaks over 2000 meters, which are part of the Alps.
Some attractions are Lake Bled and Bohinj, the caves of Postojna and Skocjan, the capital Ljubljana and in the northwest of Slovenia is located Triglav National Park.
